What does the new "only 1000 visitors per day" rule in Komodo National Park from Jan 26 mean for my booking?

Visitor numbers at Komodo National Park have risen significantly in recent years. In a sweeping move, the park administration has now capped daily entries at 1,000 people for the entire park, and visits to Padar Island are only possible within pre-booked time slots. Since Komodo is popular, especially in peak season, with vessels from elsewhere and large cruise ships, it is wise to book well in advance to avoid the risk of tickets selling out. This restriction applies equally to diving and snorkeling guests.

What is the best time to visit Komodo ?

The best time to visit Komodo for diving is during the dry   season from April to November . During this period, visibility is excellent and the ocean conditions are generally calm and favorable for diving. A visit to the Komodo National PArk between December and March is possible, but be prepared for some rain, which might just put a damper on your boating plans.

In which parts of the Komodo National Park the tours are made?

Accepted Answer

If you choose the leisure / snorkel option its mainly in the area of north and central Komodo as far as Padar. If you are on a dive liveaboard we also heading direction south. The only limitation is the weather condition. The south is usually best between october and march.The north and central of Komodo can be navigated almost all year round, although during the rainy season the conditions are sometimes so bad that you can't go out.

Why do I have to pay the Komodo Park entrance fee?

The dive and snorkeling ticket for the Komodo National Park is essential for supporting the preservation of its extraordinary ecosystem. By participating in a trip in Komodo, you are not just enjoying the stunning Park; you are also contributing to the park's conservation and sustainability efforts.
The National Park administration charges each person an entrance fee, which is intended to benefit the park. All tour operators are required to collect this amount from their guests and pay it to the National Park via an app using a bank transfer.
The ticket for diving is astimated at per person/day 300.000IDR, for snorkeling per person/day 280.000IDR  for 2025.
Should the national park authority implement a price increase, we will invoice you for the difference.
On each island in the park that you wish to visit, an entrance fee is collected in cash directly by the rangers there. You should expect to pay approximately 50.000 IDR per person per island.

How much is the entrance fee at the Komodo National Park?

At Fanie Boat Tours, we strive to make your experience as seamless as possible! Since 2025, we've included the entrance fee to the breathtaking Komodo National Park in the total bill of our tours. This means you don't need to worry about separate charges when booking your adventure with us.  However, please note that you will need additional approximately 200,000 IDR in cash per person for visits to specific islands like Rinca, Komodo, Padar and Gili Lawa Laut. 
KOMODO NATIONAL PARK FEES 
Entrance to Komodo National Park requires a daily fee per person. Dives cost 300.000 IDR per day / per pax. Snorkeling and leisure activities are 280.000 IDR per day / per pax.

Will there be any internet access on the boat?

Accepted Answer

There is no Wi-Fi available on the boat. However, you can use your mobile phone with a local SIM card and an internet package. The mobile signal in the Park is generally very good, with just a few small areas where the signal might be weaker. So, you can stay connected while enjoying your time on the water!

Do we see Komodo dragons during our trip?

Accepted Answer

Depending on the duration of your trip and the specific package you booked, we also make additional stops at stunning locations such as Padar Island, known for its panoramic views; Pink Beach, famous for its unique rosy sand; and Kalong Island, where you can witness thousands of flying foxes at dusk.

Can I fly a drone in the Park?

Yes you can but there is a special ticket/permit which we need to purchase for you. The cost of the ticket is 2.000,000 IDR and it can be used only for one day. Take note there are also specific no-fly zones which will be communicated while onboard.

Is it customary to leave a tip?

Accepted Answer

Leaving a tip shows you enjoyed the trip and appreciate the crew's hard work. The whole team loves receiving them, as it's a clear sign they did a great job. On a liveaboard, the standard is typically 50,000 IDR per person, per day.
